Henrique Seruca

Born on December 18th 1969 in Oporto, Portugal, Henrique’s passion has always been photography.

He studied photography at ARCO, in Lisbon and won the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Scholarship for a course at the University of Helsinki. He has over 25 years of experience in fields spanning from advertising, hospitality, food, lifestyle and travel and has taken photos all around the world for various clients in over 80 countries, Vice President of Disciples Escoffier Portugal.

In 1995 he exhibited at the ‘Fotofestival Naarden 1995’ from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and was invited by the critic Amanda Hopkinson to Royal Theatre in London to contribute in the collective exhibition, ‘Reflection by 10 Portuguese Photographers’.

He has published works in numerous prestigious magazines such as, Time Magazine, New York Times, GEO France, The European, The Independent, El Pais, Público, Rotas e Destinos, Associated Press, Essencial travel guides of Paris, London, Rome, Marrakech, Cuba, New York and Rio de Janeiro and in the official paper of AIAS (International Association of Independent Art and Design Schools). 

He work is characterised by a focus on advertising with clients including Lever, Vodafone, Porsche, Chanel, Nestlé, Helvetica, Cores de Areia, Jason Associates, Quebramar, GQ Portugal, Abrilcontroljornal, Tecnovia, Luca, Vogue Italy, Porto Bay Group, Walkabout Foundation, TAAG Airways, Groundforce, Omni Aviation, The Vine, Portugal Telecom, Madeira Tourism Board, amongst others.

In 2008, he founded his own company ‘Henrique Seruca Photography’ with its headquarters in Madeira island and a studio in Lisbon, simultaneously he continues working and travelling with his foreign clients. 

He has published various books including ‘The Book Madeira and Porto Santo’, ‘Na Rota das Estrelas a Gastronomic Trip’, ‘Madeira by Benoit Sinthon 2 Michelin star Chef’ and ‘200 years the Blandy Family’.

His work can be viewed at the Fundação PLMJ, Jason Associates and in private collections.
